Tom Gillis

Mr. Gillis is a Managing Director in the Ares Credit Group, where he focuses on U.S. direct lending, specifically the lower middle market segment. Prior to joining Ares in 2024, Mr. Gillis was a Co-Founder and Partner at Riverside Credit Solutions, the private credit strategy at The Riverside Company. Previously, Mr. Gillis was a Managing Director in the Sponsor Finance Group at Silicon Valley Bank, where he focused on business development. In addition, Mr. Gillis was a Director in the Leveraged Finance Group at NewStar Financial, Inc., where he focused on origination, underwriting and portfolio management. In addition, Mr. Gillis was a Vice President in the Direct Equity and Mezzanine Investments Group at Bank of America Principal Investing. Mr. Gillis began his career as a Financial Analyst at Liberty Funds Group, where he focused on modeling and analyses. Mr. Gillis holds a B.A. from St. Micheal's College in Business Administration and an M.B.A. from Boston College Carroll School of Management.
